We all desire health, yet as soon as unwanted symptoms arise, our first instinct (through years/generations of conditioning) is to treat, suppress, or do something in response to that expressed symptom.  We can’t just do nothing, can we?

When I saw this quote, it inspired me to expand further on this topic.

“DOING NOTHING” INTELLIGENTLY IS THE HARDEST OF ALL THINGS TO DO.”

It’s so accurate!

The biggest issue that I can see is our collective misinterpretation of what symptoms really are.  Most symptoms/sickness are not what we are taught to perceive, they are actually the body attempting to get itself well, but to become well, we often must pass through a period of feeling unwell.

We fear unwell.

When it comes to our health, “doing something” usually causes more harm than “doing nothing” and allowing the body to go through its processes.

The doctor often fears the patient into “doing something” through citing what could happen, if they DON’T administer the poison.

The fear of doing nothing, stems from a fear of neglect.  Doing nothing seems to be the opposite of intelligence in todays world.

Lauren Whiteman wrote the next 4 paragraphs here:

“This is what we have been taught to do all our lives.  To work against the body.  To treat the body cleaning itself as a “disease”, the enemy, something to be battled, something that we must do SOMETHING to fix.

But for those who understand healing, we understand that our most powerful weapon in our arsenal of health is to do NOTHING intelligently.

This means that when the cleaning symptoms come, we stop putting everything in and we let everything flow out unencumbered.

We REMOVE the CAUSE of the initial build up of waste so that no more waste is going in.  This is the intelligent part.   Then we sit back and let the body do the work of cleaning itself.   This is the intelligent part.  We water fast to get through acute symptoms.  We rest. We let the body do the rest.   This is the intelligent part.  And when we embrace the awe inspiring power of the body to heal itself without thinking we need to interfere, we get well, our pets get well, our loved ones get well”

Herbert Shelton wrote this long ago:

“You don’t need treatment. The fever, inflammation, coughing, etc., constitute the healing process. Just get out of their way and permit them to complete their work. Don’t try to ‘aid’ nature. She doesn’t need your puny aid—she only asks that you cease interfering.”

– Herbert Shelton

When we apply so called “remedies”, or take herbs for example, we slow the healing process, and often cause additional harm.  To “sit back and do nothing intelligently” requires knowledge, and faith, in the bodies ability to heal itself.  I feel that it’s such a tragedy in itself that doing nothing has been ridiculed, demonized and looked upon as an uneducated layman’s approach.
